Meet Dr. Salwa Bakkali, DO
Dr. Salwa Bakkali is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician and founder of Empower Wellness Center – Direct Primary Care. With over 14 years of clinical experience, including seven years at the prestigious Mayo Clinic, she brings extensive medical expertise, compassion, and a personalized approach to patient care.
Throughout her career, Dr. Bakkali has practiced in both hospital and outpatient settings, developing expertise in managing complex medical conditions, including diabetes, obesity, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and chronic inflammatory disorders. Her clinical interests include women's health, perimenopause and menopause management, bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, metabolic health, weight management, rheumatology, and integrative and functional medicine.
Passionate about bridging conventional medicine with evidence-based holistic approaches, Dr. Bakkali believes in treating the whole person rather than simply managing symptoms. She emphasizes preventive medicine, identifying underlying causes of illness, optimizing hormonal and metabolic health, and empowering patients to take an active role in their well-being.
Her academic background includes degrees in computer science and biological sciences, followed by a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree. In addition to her clinical practice, she has extensive experience in quality improvement, medical education, teaching, and mentorship. Having practiced in multiple healthcare systems across the United States, she brings a broad perspective to medicine. Fluent in three languages, she enjoys connecting with patients from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
As the founder of Empower Wellness Center, Dr. Bakkali is committed to redefining the patient experience through accessible, relationship-based healthcare. Her mission is to provide comprehensive, individualized care that combines modern medical advancements with a proactive focus on prevention, longevity, and optimal wellness.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Bakkali is a devoted mother of four active children. She enjoys cheering them on at their basketball, soccer, and baseball games. An avid traveler and fitness enthusiast, she loves CrossFit, running, hiking, exploring new cultures, and spending time outdoors. She believes in practicing the healthy, balanced lifestyle she encourages her patients to embrace.

My name is Beatriz Garcia, and I am a Front Desk Associate, Certified Nursing Assistant, and Phlebotomist with over six years of experience in the healthcare field. I am currently pursuing nursing school and am deeply passionate about providing compassionate, attentive, and patient-centered care. I take pride in helping ensure that every patient leaves feeling comfortable, satisfied, and well cared for.Outside of work, I am a proud mom to a four-year-old daughter who loves dance and hockey. Her dad and I are incredibly excited to support her as she grows and explores her future, which inspires me every day both personally and professionally.
I’m a registered nurse with 8 years of experience, specializing in home health and home infusions—where I get to combine my love for flexibility with my passion for building genuine connections. I believe great care starts with trust, and I have a knack for turning first visits into long-lasting relationships.
When I’m not caring for clients, I’m chasing after two tiny humans and one very energetic dog, all of whom have zero respect for personal space or snack boundaries.
Fueled by coffee, compassion, and the occasional car karaoke session, I bring heart, humor, and authenticity into everything I do.
My name is Andrea Buchar. I have been a registered nurse for almost 20 years. Many of those years have been spent working with infusions of all sorts. I am used to starting peripheral IV's on patients with known difficult veins whom often require an ultrasound machine when admitted to the hospital. I am excited to start a new journey with Aesthetics helping people enhance their natural beauty!
I live in Lakeville with my husband(Darik) and my 2 beautiful children(Mikayla and Zackary). We are a very active family in sports, outdoor activities, fishing and LOVE spending time up north at our family cabin.

Sara Mulligan brings an extensive history working in the field of social work, with years of experience supporting individuals and families through compassionate, client-centered care. She now serves as the front desk staff and social media content creator at Empower Wellness, where she combines her organizational skills, creativity, and passion for helping others to create a welcoming and engaging experience for the Empower community. Outside of Empower Wellness, Sara enjoys cheering on her kids at sporting events, traveling, and spending quality time with her family.
Haley is a uniquely skilled aesthetic nurse specialist who brings a rare blend of critical care precision and surgical artistry to the world of medical aesthetics.
With over 10 years of healthcare experience rooted in critical care, orthopedic surgery, and facial plastic surgery she combines her intensive surgical training with an artistic eye. She specializes in delivering safe, precise, and natural-looking facial rejuvenation. Her surgical experience provides advanced knowledge and understanding of facial anatomy, bone structure, and facial harmony that is used to create and design custom treatment plans that enhance her patients' natural beauty and EMPOWER them to look and feel their absolute best.
In her free time, Haley loves traveling the world, cooking Italian food with family, playing tennis and golf, and trying to keep up with and spend quality time with her husband and 2 young toddlers
Kristin Matthees is a Women’s Health, Fitness & Longevity Coach specializing in helping women navigate the physical and lifestyle changes that occur from postpartum through perimenopause and beyond.
With a B.S. in Health & Human Performance and more than two decades of experience in health, fitness and wellness, Kristin brings an evidence-informed, practical approach to helping women build strength, improve body composition and create sustainable lifestyle habits.
A former Division I athlete, Kristin has extensive education and certifications in strength and fitness coaching, pre and postnatal fitness, yoga, pelvic floor health, behavior change and wellness education.
At Empower Wellness, Kristin works alongside the medical team to help women build strength, improve movement and establish sustainable lifestyle habits. Her coaching focuses on fitness, accountability and practical behavior change that supports long-term health and longevity.
Kristin is also the founder of Postpartum to Peri, an educational and coaching platform created to help women feel stronger, more informed and more confident as their bodies and lives change.
Outside of work, Kristin is a wife and mom of three who believes health should support your life, not consume it. You’ll often find her strength training, hiking, skiing, biking, baking sourdough, enjoying coffee, and being outside.
